We talk a lot about artificial intelligence, but little about natural stupidity. Yet we're all affected! Through our cognitive biases and the shortcuts our brains like to take, we're all at risk of slipping into irrational beliefs, making poor choices, adhering to dubious conspiracy theories, and resisting science. In a playful and bold tone, the conference exposes the strengths and weaknesses of the scientific method as a way of understanding the world, as well as the flaws of our brains, evolved to survive in the face of adversity. A few avenues are explored to sharpen our critical thinking and circumvent the flaws in our thinking, ultimately making better decisions. Duration: 1.5 hours Cost: $600 + travel
